Shane Michael Yee (b. 1991, Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American designer, artist, and writer working across architecture, skateboarding, art, and theology. A fifth-generation Californian, he received a Bachelor of Architecture, cum laude, from NewSchool of Architecture & Design in his hometown of San Diego, California.

Yee began his career in San Diego at Richard Yen and Associates working on master plans for Southern California Gas and Southern California Edison. He then got a job as a model maker at Gensler working on UCSD projects, before commissioning as an officer in the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps. He earned his commission through Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island and later attended Civil Engineer Corps Officers School (CECOS) at Naval Base Ventura County in Port Hueneme, California.

Yee received orders to Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, serving as Assistant Director of Public Works. His next tour he was assigned to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as Senior Construction Manager, overseeing construction projects on the installation, airfields, and Corpus Christi Army Depot.

During his naval service, Yee managed more than $1 billion in military planning, design, and construction projects, departing active duty with the rank of O-3. His military awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Yee is perhaps best known as the co-Founder and Chief Design Officer of Skate Ecosystems LLC, an Austin based design-build studio that approaches skateparks as works of architecture, sculpture, and regenerative public space. The firm’s Del Rio Skate Garden received the 2025 DNA Paris Design Award in Landscape Design.

Now based in Texas, Yee spends his time writing, drawing, and volunteering at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. He recently earned a Certificate in Franciscan Studies through the University of St. Francis, focusing on the lives and spirituality of Saints Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi.

Yee is scheduled to begin studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in the fall of 2026. He lives with his wife, Shannen, and their young son, Constant Giovanni Yee.
